Kimberly A. Truong

CHIEF EQUITY OFFICER, MGH INSTITUTE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS

Dr. Kimberly A. Truong has 20+ years of experience advancing justice and equity efforts in education. She is chief equity officer at MGH Institute of Health Professions and adjunct lecturer on education at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. IHP is the only degree-granting institution within the Mass General Brigham system where Dr. Truong is also a member of the MGB DE&I Council. Under her leadership at the IHP, the organization adopted a commitment to equity and anti-oppression, implemented guidelines to take into account faculty of color invisible labor, and founded an incubator for innovative ideas in teaching and learning. Dr. Truong is also founder and principal at XEM Consulting Services, LLC, which supports organizations interested in transformational institutional change.

Dr. Truong is nationally recognized for research on the experiences of graduate students of color with racism and racial trauma. She is a sought-after speaker on justice and equity issues in higher education and the workplace. Dr. Truong written works have been published in the Harvard Educational Review, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, New Directions for Institutional Research, Inside Higher Ed, Diverse Issues in Higher Education, INSIGHT into Diversity, and About Campus. In 2022, COLOR named Dr. Truong to its inaugural POWER 50 Chief Diversity Officers list and the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education designated her a CDO Fellow.

Dr. Truong earned a Ph.D. in higher education at the University of Pennsylvania, Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and B.A. from Brandeis University.
