TCI Announces Upcoming Retirement of Executive Director Aileen Gorman

BOSTON, Mass., July 27, 2016 — After almost nineteen years of distinguished leadership, Aileen Gorman has announced her retirement as Executive Director of The Commonwealth Institute effective late 2016. The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) is a non-profit organization devoted to advancing business women in leadership positions.

Under Aileen’s leadership, The Commonwealth Institute has grown to serve over 4,000 women leaders in the greater Boston area: from expanding the Commonwealth forums to include corporate women, CEOs and nonprofit leaders, to creating the Strategies for Success leadership development program for emerging women leaders. TCI has also expanded to create a second successful chapter in South Florida.

“Aileen’s dedication to the success of women in business is legendary,” noted Pam Reeve, TCI Board Chair. “The impact of The Commonwealth Institute on the lives and careers of so many women is directly related to the passion, drive and creativity Aileen has demonstrated over an extended period.  On a personal level, I so value her insights and her friendship.  It has been a pleasure working with her, and I wish her continued success in her next chapter.”

Aileen was also instrumental in launching the Top 100 Women-Led Businesses in MA list, now in it’s 15th year, to document the impact that women-led businesses have on the Massachusetts economy and to raise the visibility of women-led businesses.

“From the first day, Aileen has taught me the value of patience while I continued to dream big dreams. It has been her driving force, her belief in what we stand for and her connections that have made a difference for the organization,” said Lois Silverman, Founding Chair of The Commonwealth Institute. “We thank her for all she has done, for who she is, and the difference she has made to so many lives.”

We are grateful for the many years of dedicated leadership and commitment to the success of women that Aileen has provided and thank her for the many high impact programs, events, and initiatives she has implemented.

TCI will be conducting a search to identify the next executive director. The job description and details of the search process will be posted on the the organization website at http://commonwealthinstitute.org/?p=7592.
