Longtime TCI CEO Forum Member will join TCI Board, effective June 2011.

The Commonwealth Institute (TCI), a non-profit organization of women CEOs, entrepreneurs and senior executives, today appointed Aviva Sapers, CEO of Sapers & Wallack, to TCI’s Board of Directors; Sapers will serve a two-year term and join 23 other prominent women on this board.

Sapers & Wallack is a third-generation insurance, benefits and investment management firm that was founded by Saper’s grandfather, Abraham Sapers, in 1932. Under her leadership, Sapers & Wallack takes a team approach to create comprehensive, cost-effective solutions to clients. Sapers and her team of experts serve hundreds of clients including Fortune 1000 corporations, non-profit organizations, closely held firms, venture-backed start-ups and private individuals. Recognized as a premier leader in women-led businesses in New England, many of Saper’s employees have been with her firm for 15 years or more. In 2008, Sapers was named to the Boston Business Journal’s list of Area’s Largest Women Run Businesses.

In addition to being a member of the The Commonwealth Institute since its inception in 1997, Sapers is also a member of The Boston Estate Planning Council, and serves on the boards of The Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston and the Jewish Community Relations Council, as well as the Presidential Advisory Board for Berklee College of Music.

Sapers earned a B.A. from Colby College and an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School. She received degrees of Chartered Life Underwriters and Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College, has her Certification in Long Term Care and is a licensed Insurance Advisor. She became licensed with The National Association of Security Dealers in 1985 and is a member of The Million Dollar Round Table, The Association of Advanced Life Underwriters and NALU.
