The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) Boston, a non-profit organization of women business leaders, today appointed Ann M. Fudge, former chairman and CEO of Young & Rubicam Brands, to TCI’s board of directors. In this role, Fudge will serve as fiduciary and assist in developing and implementing strategies and policies that support the organization’s mission.

Prior to her leadership role with Young & Rubicam Brands, a global network of pre-eminent companies across the full range of marketing communications, Fudge was president of the $5 billion Beverages, Desserts and Post Division with Kraft Foods. In this position, she managed business lines that included Maxwell House Coffee, Gevalia Kaffe, Kool Aid, Crystal Light, Post cereals, Jell-O desserts and Altoids.
Fudge currently serves on the board of directors of General Electric, Novartis and Unilever as well as the Rockefeller Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the U.S. Program Advisory Panel for the Gates Foundation, for which she serves as chairperson. In addition, she is vice chair of the Harvard Board of Overseers and a trustee of Morehouse College and the Brookings Institution.

During the course of her career, Fudge has garnered the Matrix Award for Advertising from New York Women in Communication, the N.Y. Executive Council’s Ten Awards for leadership and innovation in business, a Lifetime Achievement Award from Ebony and a Legacy Award in Business from Black Enterprise magazine. In addition, she was named one of the “50 Most Powerful Women in American Business” by Fortune and one of Time Magazine’s Global Business Influentials.

Fudge holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard University Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Simmons College.
